Are you aware that the markets changed character significantly when compulsory superannuation was introduced in July 1992? Well certainly the upper end of the market anyway (where the funds allocate most of their investments).

More history is not necessary better. Most of the historical data I've seen before 1990 is of very poor quality - missing days, duplicated volume, duplicate daily data etc.
