Land is no longer a good store of wealth.

With the fall of Eastern Europe the socialists, led by the Fabian society, realised they had lost the argument for government ownership of all things. They deliberately and patiently now have a policy of undermining what ownership is.

Most people don't think about ownership of land or an object. They think if they own it they have dominion over it, they don't.

The concept of degrading the bundle of rights which makes up ownership is called "regulatory taking".

Once if you owned a house you could do with it what you wanted, paint it, demolish it, etc etc.... no longer. Even worse if a public servant declares it "heritage listed". Ownership of land only gives you rights that the government choses.

Once you could cut down your trees in your backyard, they are now a "community resource" you may apply to the government for a permit. Worse if you are a farmer.

If you have a gas pipeline, you can't turn it off, sell services or maintain it how you want.

The only true wealth is moveable unregistered tradeables; gold, diamonds, etc. The government regards the rest, including your super, as a "community asset".
