That's like saying other social media platforms will die when My Space ends... or other mobiles phone handsets will die when Nokia ends. The truth of the matter is that the first commercial success in a new area of technology will rarely hold it's lead over the long term.
Bitcoin has the first mover advantage and a greater network effect, but a lot of that is built into it's higher market cap relative to other cryptos. Bitcoin lost a lot of it's market dominance to other cryptos over 2017 (
https://coinmarketcap.com/charts/#dominance-percentage) and I suspect that trend will continue even if we do see this current resurgence last a little longer.
@Taurisk, Kryptonex looks like a scam to me. Sweden really is looking into an e-krona project, but any practical implementation would be some time away. They have short listed some technology groups that are interested in working with them. IOTA Foundation was one of the shortlisted groups, but it's still a fairly wide field and even if they did choose to work with IF, it's more likely the national currency would be built separately to the IOTA token itself.
@littletinker, look at market cap rather than price. At it's recent peak Ripple was only a few dollars, but the value of all tokens in existence exceeded the value of Bitcoin for a short period late last year. So price of a single unit is not really the determining factor of the most valuable network.
I only hold some IOTA at present. They have one of the most pragmatic crypto teams out there and building a Foundation and advisor/partner network that is chock full of all the right people to make the platform a success, from mathematicians, to people at some of the largest and most relevant (to IoT/M2M) corporates in the world, to those involved with financial regulation and traditional financial exchanges. Just look through some of their recent additions and tell me it's not an impressive lineup. I also like the promise of their technology, feeless, scalable, transmitting data as well as value...
Nothing is a certainty in this space. Crypto is still very risky even if you only stick to projects that appear promising. Speculate what you are prepared to lose.
