CDOs have been back for almost a decade now, however they often use various different words for them. I work in the industry. Fund managers playing with other peoples money only care about 1 thing, short term returns which equals short term bonus. It’s difficult to find any sort of yield on debt related assets, so they turn to this rubbish to get alpha. They then leave, spout their returns on their resume, and let someone else deal with the 100s of millions to billions in rubbish they bought on behalf of clients/superfund members. Then.... they blow up, just hopefully after they left with their bonuses and have a new job.

Its disgraceful.
