    ASX ANNOUNCEMENT
    9 February 2006
WONDINONG DRILLING CONFIRMS THE PRESENCE OF
    WIDESPREAD URANIUM MINERALISATION AND
    IDENTIFIES HIGHER GRADE ZONE
Drill Hole WAC068 contains 0.82m at 1348ppm eU3O8, the highest grade
uranium intercept to date at Wondinong
o This intercept is on the most northerly line of drilling and is open
    to the north
94 holes of the two recent programmes have drill intercepts in excess of
200ppm eU3O8 over a minimum of 20cm, confirming the widespread
nature of the uranium mineralisation at Wondinong.
Uranium mineralisation extends beyond the 15 square kilometres
currently tested, and is open to the north, northwest and south
Aura Energy Ltd (ASX Code: AEE) completed the drilling of a further 304 holes at its
Wondinong uranium project near Mt Magnet in Western Australia in December.
    Aura originally commenced its drilling
programme at Wondinong in September, but
rain caused the deferment of the programme. 31
drill holes were completed at that time. Results
reported in late November included WAC023:
    1.5m at 323ppm U3O8, and WAC027: 1.0m at
    528ppm U3O8.
The drilling programme has now carried out
initial testing of an area of approximately 15
square kilometres of the main prospective area
    at Wondinong.
Fig. 1: Location of the Wondinong
    uranium deposit
Aura’s drilling programme is at 200 by 200 metre and 200 by 400 metre centres. The
depths of the holes are between 2 and 40 metres, with the majority of the holes being
5 metres deep. The programme was carried out by Wallis Drilling.
Aura has now received the downhole radiometric logs from the contractor, 3D
    Exploration Pty Ltd.
As indicated by previous drilling the uranium mineralisation at Wondinong has a
widespread development on the edge of Lake Austin. 81 of the recently completed
drill holes contained eU3O8 values of greater than 200ppm and intersections of more
than 20cm, the level typically used by calcrete uranium explorers to denote the
presence of mineralisation. In total 94 Aura drill holes from the September and
December programmes contain above 200ppm eU3O8.
Fig. 2: Distribution of all Aura drill holes with intercepts with greater than 200ppm
eU3O8 over a continuous thickness of more than 20cm, based on downhole
radiometric logging (red circles); other Aura drill holes as crosses; grid squares are
    2 kilometres;
A total of 202 holes from the two drilling campaigns have eU3O8 values above
100ppm over thicknesses of in excess of 20cm (60% of holes, Fig. 3).
Fig. 3: Distribution of all Aura drill holes with intercepts with greater than 100ppm
eU3O8 over a continuous thickness of more than 20cm, based on downhole
radiometric logging; grid squares are 2 kilometres; the outlines of the areas defined
may change when assay results are received
The distribution of holes with >200ppm eU3O8 indicates that uranium mineralisation
largely occurs in seven coherent zones with lateral continuity (Figs. 2 and 4). These
zones have dimensions that are typically 500 to 1500 metres in length, and 300-800
    metres in width.
Fig. 4: Zones of greater than 200ppm eU3O8 throughout the drilled area at
Wondinong, based on downhole radiometric logging results in Fig. 2; five zones
continue beyond the drilled area; selected intercepts on the margin of the drilling
    shown, plus the WMC hole 800m south of the drilling; grid squares are 2 kilometres;
the outlines of the areas defined may change when assay results are received
All intercepts of greater than 200ppm eU3O8 are in Table 1 at the end of this release.
Better intersections from this campaign include:
    WAC048: 0.74 metres grading 535ppm eU3O8
    WAC068: 0.82 metres grading 1348ppm eU3O8
    WAC074: 0.42 metres grading 533ppm eU3O8
    WAC075: 0.54 metres grading 517ppm eU3O8
    WAC086: 0.72 metres grading 532ppm eU3O8
    WAC286: 0.40 metres grading 701ppm eU3O8
Three of the six intersections given above are located on the most northerly line
drilled, including WAC068, providing considerable encouragement for the discovery
of extensions of the mineralisation to the north of the line within the Aura land
    holding.
The main intersections on this line are between 3 and 4 metres depth, below the depth
of mineralisation encountered throughout much of Wondinong. This area is slightly
elevated because of a thin cover of kopi dunes, which may be a cause of the change in
    elevation.
Fig. 5: Downhole radiometric logs for drill holes WAC068 and WAC086
It is known that uranium mineralisation occurs 800m south of the most southerly line
drilled, as WMC drilled a narrow intercept of 0.2m at 334ppm eU3O8 in that
company’s broad spaced drilling in the 1970s. Seven drill holes on the most southerly
line drilled by Aura contained above 100ppm eU3O8.
Uranium mineralisation is also not closed to the northwest, where hole WAC335
    (628000E, 6924600N) has an intercept of 0.46m at 328ppm eU3O8.
Assay results for all samples with greater than 100ppm eU3O8 are anticipated from the
    laboratory late in February.
