Tin? Whats that you say? Well all the solder in your computer is now made of tin and so os all the solder in all electronics now.
Lead phased out here. The problem is tin is getting harder and harder to find. It is a surface mineral. The old deposits are either worked out or on the way, and at last Indonesia has stopped the unlicensed cowboys ripping increasingly scarce tin out willy nilly. Zoom up in the price and it does'nt look like there is much downside. Indonesia has discovered it has pricing power in one mineral with the assistance of a few emails to the big operators from economist me, and does not seem too keen now to sell at anything under $16,000 US. WE have some tin here and it is mostly in Tassie. MLX is likely to be back in action as a very substantial world middle ranking producer quite soon, the plant is there and waiting, the paperwork approved and cash will start flowing in 08. A lot of cash I believe, the supply is tight and the demand is exceeding it. About time the Apple Isle got a break. The demand from electronics is not going to get smaller.
