There are basic gas analysers available that would give almost instantaneous readings as to the CO2 content; it wouldn't take weeks to get that info. Even if not readily available wouldn't they just wait until it was before deciding the next move (they had gas to sample didn't they).Why would they spend mega $$$ side drilling if it wasn't to preserve something of value; I think an obviously high CO2 reading would have resulted in a different action to what is currently occuring; the logic of their actions speak loud & clear to me.
