BGS/MLL used to own some of the tenements to the south east that were handed back after a strategic review of the tenements held found some not to be of value. I believe the south falls out of the Birimian belt zones and targets were fairly slim pickings and unattractive.
targets directly north/ west / North-west are much more favourable
ive got some pictures (fairly poor quality) that show how Morila, and other gold mines, relating to Birimian belt. Have a google search if you want to find out why it’s of relevance to gold.

Morila being so isolated and by itself is one of the reasons of a high probability of possible significant discoveries.
