An Operator updates its other JV partners by daily conf calls & daily Ops reports. U'd b silly not to know abt daily activities despite being free-carried & then express shock when u get the expenses bill !! Blame the tight hole clause for the 'we know nothin' line, I don't buy that.
O&G Exploration companies appoint an Ops team (Geo+Drilling engr) who liase directly with the Wellsite geo & Company Man on a regular basis daily (morn-noon updates) & r on call 24x7 when in the sensitive zones/ coring/ logging/ testing.
Basically LWD/mudlogs/WL logs/daily reports/drilling mud reports/daily expenses/forecast etc r all relayed back to the Operator's base office daily not to mention the realtime systems that shows what's going onsite depending on how much u want to spend on daily newsflow from one's Operations.
