Angola/Elections2008 South African Diplomat Recognises Polls Fairness, Transparency
Luanda, 09/05 – The ambassador of South Africa to Angola, Themba Kubheka this Friday stated that the electoral process in Angola is being marked by fairness and transparency.
The diplomat recognised that despite the delay recorded in the opening of some polling stations in the country's capital (Luanda), he stressed that the participation of voters in the polls is an evidence of the maturity of Angolan citizens.
Themba Kubheka, who is following up the legislative elections as an observer of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), ignored the delay in the opening of some polling stations by saying that it is something natural.
According to the South African ambassador, the delay is natural, because Angolans lived for 16 years without fulfilling this civic duty, fact that might have led to these few constraints.
