    Opaline says:

"I notice you have used a plastic ball
    valve on the nearest tank."

That would not have been my first choice either
as all the other tanks (including the new
Tank Five) all have brass gate valves.

How it came about was when Tank Four
arrived it was quite large (for suburbia)
holding 14 tonnes of water when full
    (hence the concrete foundation) and
there was a lot of 'fun' demolishing
a fence (and rebuilding it later)
so it could be be rolled into
    place on its concrete base
    and bolted into place to
    prevent the strong winds
    we have in Canberra
    rolling it to New
    Zealand! (vbg!)

And in all the hubbub and turmoil
I forgot to check the bag of stuff
that came with the tank for
the valve - until after the
    delivery truck was long
    gone. So I thought
    "What The Heck"
    I'll try out a
    plastic tap.

BTW: There has been a 'spousal
development' since I took this shot:

    The 'spousal development' took the
form of "While you're on the job,
I could use an extra tap for
    a fernery I'd like behind
    the tanks - and a
    shade-house,
    but only if
    you have
    the time."

I bet King Nebuchadnezzar never went to this
much trouble (in 600 BC) constructing the
Hanging Gardens of Babylon to console his
queen, who missed the mountains, trees
and flowers of her native Media.
