Engineered stone uses Silica sand and/or crushed marble which is then bonded under pressure with resins, dyes and other additives.
The recipe is altered of course to make it look like dressed marble or polished sandstone. And because of its uniform structure, ie no natural veins or cracks, it is easy to cut and shape.
The result is perfectly flat and smooth slabs ready for hanging as an architectural cladding or benchtops etc.
