As you stated over the weekend, the company replied to your email regarding the lack of forewarning about the problems re the "fishing trip". However they stated that they already had several similar glitches which had been resolved in a reasonable time, but this one , when it became apparent was problematical, was then reported to the marketplace.
I see no issue with that practise, just common sense.
