Page 12 of the user manual has some good information for comparison to Ceramic fuel cells
The whispergen is heat driven and should not be run unless you require heating for your home or need hot water.
This basis of operation differentiates the end user of either requiring a heating device that can provide electricity as a secondary function, or someone requiring electricity with heating as its secondary function(cfu Bluegen).
The whispergen therefore cannot be used to reduce base load off the grid, unless the heating requirement is required continuosly. There may be instances where this is possible, Northern europe etc, but even in the German summer, households would not require the 7.8KW of heating on a continuous basis to validate 1 kilowatt of electricity generation.
The ability to provide base load reduction are ceramic fuels cells biggest advantage.
The whispergen looks like a great product, but in the majority of cases, fuel cells and the whispergen will be targeting 2 different types of customer.
