White Rock Minerals intersects high-grade zinc in step-out hole at Red Mountain VMS project in Alaska
The first batch of samples from the first drill hole at Dry Creek has been in the laboratory for 12 weeks with final assay results expected within the next two weeks.
White Rock Minerals Ltd (ASX:WRM, OTCQX:WRMCF) is encouraged by the high-grade zinc returned from a step-out hole at the Hunter West prospect of its wholly-owned Red Mountain Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) Project in Alaska.
Although the massive sulphide intersection was just 0.2 metres it returned 11.9% zinc, 2.8% lead, 0.9% copper, 63 g/t silver and 0.2 g/t gold, or 17.5% zinc-equivalent, from 184.8 metres downhole, providing the company with confidence of enhancing the Red Mountain prospectivity.
This is the first result received from the 2021 field season at Red Mountain within the prolific Tintina Gold Province and comes 200 metres from surface and more than 500 metres from the nearest hole.
The massive sulphide horizon at Hunter and Hunter West now extends for over 1.5 kilometres of strike length with the mineralisation open along strike and down-dip.
Hunter West – drill testing
Assays have been received for the Hunter West drill hole (HR21-07) with massive sulphides intersected 200 metres down-dip of surface mineralisation.
Importantly, the sphalerite-rich massive sulphide drill hole intersected a polymetallic suite of metals summarised as 17.5% zinc-equivalent grade.
The Hunter West target is a fault displaced continuation of the massive sulphide horizon originally discovered at Hunter in 2018 where initial drilling of this White Rock-led discovery in 2018 returned highly encouraging results.

Follow-up exploration
Work to date has shown that the Hunter massive sulphide mineralisation occurs as an extension through going and metal-rich horizon.
Future work will use a combination of geology, structure and geophysics to identify positions along strike and down-dip where the massive sulphide could occur as thicker accumulations.

Importantly, White Rock has begun using a second laboratory to expedite assay results for subsequent drill holes.
