yet this began to fade in the goldrush, a desperate repair job with the White Aus policy and a repeat and more strenuous fading from the '60s on.
we are now a fully integrated multicultural nation. we've change enormously from the '50s adoration of the Queen and passionate love of everything British. we've been exposed to the best (and worst) of all cultures, and this is what triggered the culture wars.
have you noticed that these same arguments are common in many countries? same pressures on housing, same immigration and skills shortages, problems with inter-cultural conflict overlaid with similar economic problems. and of course the same blame put on immigration.
we are very different from where we began and yet we still haven't learned to live with our native Aboriginal people. Just like America and many other colonist countries.
