I don't subscribe to the "Manipulation" theory either, but the price action in the stock does look as if some people have advance notice of bad news. So, not manipulation as such (I don't have a big problem with people risking their capital to take on the market), but worse, differential access to price sensitive information. Commonly known as insider trading.
