    labor hard nuts like the see Whitlam as a God, but he was just a man like most others. The myth lives on. He was good on TV and charmed a lot of general punters into thinking he was more than he was. Thats what they do for a living. Rudd was a carbon copy of Whitlam and they were both sacked. Labor lives in the past, as do the unions that control the party imo. He had his moments, like most Politicians. Labor dont need more Whitlams, they need more moderate thinkers, willing to run the country properly without sending it broke. Whitlam got smashed in the following election and resigned, but worshippers wont remember this, rather preferring to think he will rise from the grave and save the planet. 80% of the people writing about him probably were not even born or were old enough to see it happen, so they will reprint a lot of the mythology about him simply because labor can do no worng..even though they clearly get a lot wrong then and now.
