DTrad, I remember Keating with clarity. I remember the insults but lets not be too fragile. They were mostly incredibly well targeted verbal missiles which stopped the opposition in their tracks. He had formidable intellect which outshone most others during his time.
I owe Keating for holding back the extreme right wing in Australian for as long as he did. Of course, that changed when Howard became PM and the marriage of corporate and State was consumated.
