    yes thats a valid point. I don't think its been to cabinet though has it? so far its only Chalmers' essay in the monthly.

    but you're right that if Chalmers wants to push this to policy, or even if he just wants to re-jig the priorities of Treasury, it could lead to an abandonment of that pledge.

    worthwhile noting

    I don't like the habit of handshaking pollies... they are a vector for transmission of disease -- mostly the disease of persuasion to vote for the pollie but the bugs too, its almost as bad as them kissing babies and patting small horses and dogs. I'd much rather see them wrestle a Great Dane. that would be fun.
