I came across from East Coast to attend AGM which is a good chance to also catch up with family and friends.
I am currently having a nice red with them but thought I would put down some observations albeit it briefly tonight.
MO confirmed the first POD has been deployed. The other 2 were sitting immediately behind the directors platform today. The first BA was towed to Rous Head yesterday in the guise of a "towing trial" and is now sitting just outside the CWE building. We were not offered the chance to go and see it, nor getting any closer to the POD's. However I think he said this was his 4th presentation this week and the one last night was for the big wigs so I suspect they might have got a close up look. MO also said the new video had only just been made so the footage at the end which was the only new bit as far as I could see, must have been filmed only yesterday. So the "towing trial" seems to have served at least 3 different purposes which is actually quite smart IMO.
MO said they would prefer to deploy in stealth but he is very aware that's virtually impossible. He said it will take about half a day to tow the BA out to site. They are aiming for à maximum wave height of 1.5m to go ahead. He did not recommitt to à specific month as he did in Melbourne. Instead he said the priority was to get it right, and that was going to always win over haste.
Some other things he touched on were the diminishing numbers of global competitors as the task of developing this technology is very difficult which is taking it's toll on the opposition.
He was also quite expansive on the EDF Reunion Island project which was quite interesting. IMO CWE's reputation was ultimately enhaced by this and MO expects EDF to be an early visitor once PWEP is up and going.
He didn't mention any other commercial deals but did say both sides of politics remain very supportive.
