This Heb verse is speaking in the spiritual context, not literal.
I think that this statement encapsulates the cause of much division and misunderstanding between religious people and between people who are religious and people who are not.
Much of the Bible is intended to be figurative, metaphorical, poetic, symbolic... etc and some is intended to be literal. Thousands of years after scripture was written it is mostly not possible to tell into which of these camps the Biblical authors belonged.
