If you are desperate enough to leave your homeland and travel across an ocean with your entire family on a crap boat with a moron skipper in charge then you are not queue jumping...You are running for your life. Boat arriving refugees are the biggest non event. The impact on everyday Australians lives is just about non existent and has been for the last 4 decades. John Howard politicising boat arrivals was a costly move (both socially and in dollar terms). But it swung him the election (along with fortunately timed sept 11 attack - Tampa was about a fortnight before from memory) and in the process has turned it into an issue that really brings out the worst in people. Indonesia is the problem. We need to get serious re dealing with the smugglers and only they can sort that out. But for some reason we don't have political will to make the Indos suffer.
