Further Ophir no-one benefits from Syria turning into a failed state. It will be a haven for Islamic Jihadists. Islamic Jihadists are already coming from their new sanctuary in Libya to kill Israelis. It will be much easier for them if chaos in Syria allows them a new sanctuary on Israel's border.

US, Europe, UK, Russia, Jordan and Saudi Arabia do not want chaos in Syria - not because they have humanitarian concerns but because chaos in Syria will cause them problems. Saudi Arabia actual don't like the Muslim brotherhood. Which is why they are funding the Salafist rebels and not the Muslim Brotherhood rebels.

If you know what is going on you will know the main proponents of direct military action now in Syria have been Saudi Arabia, Qatar and France and Turkey in a non-committal way.
