I would not be so dismissive of IBM because this is a joint venture between IBM and Maersk, a likely top 10 player in the global shipping industry. They interface with most if not the entire global shipping ecosystem. The two combined will have no difficulty to get other industry participants to join their block chain platform. What we don't know is whether their technology will be a game changer/cutting edge. I do agree with you that YOJ will be better off if it stroke a partnership with a big player within the global shipping industry. That said, I would argue they are following that playbook but on a smaller scale by focusing on South Easia/ANZ logistics companies. What YOJ has got going for it is that its platform is multifaceted and flexible. It's not only about cross border shipping but it's also focused on inland shipping/freight/last mile delivery. They can also customize the software based on the requirements of the customer. That to me may be YOJ's primary strength.

I clicked on the link you posted but the landing page is written in a language I don't understand. Alibaba is certainly a force to be reckoned with. But I think there is more hype than substance to Alibaba. The one company that the global shipping industry is fearful of is Amazon. There is a story that came out in 2016 about Amazon project code named Dragon Boat. See the following link for more details https://www.bringg.com/blog/general...-and-what-it-means-for-the-shipping-industry/ . In my mind, this is one of the reasons why Maersk decided to joining forces with IBM. If Amazon's ambitions to disrupt the global shipping industry are true, Maersk and its acolytes have everything reason to come up with a competing technology. I am still long YOJ though. I am a believer of Ed Clarke and Andras Kristof.
