mmm   Seems insurance companies have been under threat for some time from America for not only Nordstream but also Turkstream as well.

Early in looking at this but come across this article which states well read it .

Associations belonging to the International Group of P&I Clubs, including the Shipowners' Club and the London P&I Club, said in a circular on Monday that it would not provide cover "for any activity involving or related to the Nord Stream 2 or TurkStream construction projects".
It said members were "strongly urged to assess and mitigate the risks of entering into contracts on the Nord Stream 2 or TurkStream construction projects and exercise the fullest possible due diligence to avoid exposure to sanctions or enforcement actions".

More but anyway the most pressure to prevent any pipeline's is from the good old usa going back sometime.

Not only that they have been threating private companies with sanctions on pipeline development's etc

No war around then though.  

Construction of Nord Stream 2 was initially halted in December 2019 following a sanctions threat from the United States, which wants to cut Europe's dependence on Russian energy and sell its own liquefied natural gas to the region.
