With what Blinken has been saying there is little doubt IMO that the US damaged the Nordstream. The pipeline damage will be nothing compared to damage to German/US relations. This was an attack against German free choice if done by the West. If so, I think this was an incredibly stupid move and we will see some long term changes, as some of the German population is starting to see this as an attack against Germany. Many countries have pipes and cables undersea. It is a relatively simple operation to grapple undersea cables and cut them. This could develop into a big mess. There was a Norwegian company from memory who developed a system of retrieving disused deepwater cables.
