NST was the model Cook should have followed and focused on one commodity - I'm sure this Tanami thing in part was likely a result of the frustration that NST was again showing up Cook - its a shame MLX have such a spread of different mines else they may have been gobbled up by NST by now - I'm sure APAC would have happily voted yes to that..
The other thing to consider is if Cook was open to talks then TAM would have in all likelyhood gone with him when NST came in with a higher offer but it seems to me he wanted to play hard ball - if he fails in this I wander if he'll still be head of MLX having already lost APAC..
