I am the exact opposite. I love to talk to people who know things I don't. I love discovering little facts.
I was talking to an engineer on the construction of the Lucinda sugar loading facility which is 5 km long pier. A guy tried to sell him a laser to get it level. he laughed. If it was built on line of sight it would have had a 1 M+ dip in the middle. All he did was to use the water level at slack tide and all was well.
Another guy who knew a bit about mining explained horizontal drilling to me, and that was over 30 years ago.
