Not sure about the answer, but i feel Australians are a little too self absorbed as a whole.
on a side note, as a smoker, I can light up a smoke (outside a building of course) and have an immediate friend/yapping partner, with any/all other smokers.
There is a real 'comradery' amongst smokers. Perhaps it's because we are all going down together lol.
