Actually no, and as the demo I gave showed, they were never warranted.
Back in my day for boys, long hair was rare and because I wouldn't get it cut, I seemed to become the teachers target.
And yet being one of 8 kids, poor times etc, from the Rural background, where we effectively had to mature at a young age, I was a quite and polite student and yet that seemed to go unnoticed.
But eventually one science teacher did pull me aside at one time and said, if I improved my marks, he would effectively come into bat for me.
It would seem, that I often became the discussion topic in their lunch room, the buggers lol.
I think the said science teacher got the last laugh, as after his talk I was getting B+ marks.
