Have often thought over the years that removal of a level of government would have significant benefits then something wakes me up to the fact that we are removing one of the checks in the system. I have a several concerns - ie when a Federal government is in a position of total power ie control of the house and senate which has happened at times. Local government will not have the ability to stand against any decrees the numnuts think up. Also Australia is a big country with different needs in many areas and applying a universal law across all areas will result in more civil disquiet and corruption than the current system.
