Remember MSB as deleted from the ASX200. Today was the day for stock re balancing by the index funds that track the ASX200. This means the auction today was the chance for index funds that track the ASX200 to sell stocks that were deleted from the ASX200 (or add stocks that were added to the ASX200). That is why there was a much larger than expected volume today in the closing auction.
