And what will it actually do to reduce carbon emissions when those being compensated are unlikely to cut down on their usage?
I would imagine there will be heartfelt promises and absolute guarantees about compensation (like last time when there would be no carbon tax in this term) prior to the next election. However, going by past track record, it is unlikely that Ms Gillard (or perhaps any future labor leader) are capable of keeping promises.
