What JWs will be reluctant to tell you is that their self appointed anointed ones based in Watchtower HQ NY set what their sheep should believe and how they should behave. This is not just confined to avoiding drugs - which would be fine - but extents to things like refraining from celebrating Christmas and birthdays and to dictating who they can associate with and setting the rules for these associations.
Most the "clergy class" would be envious of the control that these self appointed ones have over their sheep.
JWs should really look at their own back yards before pointing fingers at the state of other peoples' back yards.
