In the present, the Muslims are very pissed off and surely less tolerant than they once were. Nevertheless, their long term record is not bad next to that other very intolerant faith, Christianity.

This thread has been very interesting to me and people have dredged up some fascinating evidence of a relationship between an early "moon god" who was the head of a Meccan pantheon ,and Allah. Allah was put forward by Mohammed to be exactly the same as Jahweh the one god, but old traditions die hard as the Christians found with solstice celebrations and assorted saints who were in fact local deities.
