The problem with this correction is everyone and everything is exposed. Gold negatively correlates with rising interest rates so I wouldn't touch gold, a property bubble will see consumer spending dry up, reduced spending and greater interest rates will knife every business in the world and unemployment rates will fall over.
Shorting stocks isn't an option for most people as a lot of people can't access that facility.
Australia's world record effort for dodging a recession feels good now but I expect significant ramifications in the very short term.
The biggest unknown fear that's lurking in the dark is managed superfunds, the pool of funds plonked into super in the last decade is phenomenal. Once the kill switch is flicked and every man and his exits their investments, so will be the largest sell off in history.
Where to put your money?
I'm not too sure.
