I would start with the resurrection of Jesus and deal with that first if i was trying to figure out who God is. If He did rise again then everything He said is true. If not, then He is not what He claimed to be, the Son of God, He would be just a man with delusions of grandeur.

I wouldn't wait until after you are dead to find out whether Jesus was telling the truth or not.
