The first guy made the risk of lending to people who couldnt afford it in the US, very low through his insurance company.
The second guy packaged up all the debt, insured it with the first guy and sold it to everyone else. That is why Goldman's is still around.
When these MF's come back from their religious holidays the market will begin to find its feet.
