Wise words and so true. Shorters diffuse all the hype and hysteria. Lots of people come onto HotCopper and just follow the crowd after they “like the story”. Shorters are good, it keeps things in check. So what if they create fear - people who are easily scared out of their investment are probably not suitable for the equity markets. Go with bonds OR try ETFs and LICs if they still want some exposure to the equity markets. Individual stock selection has always only been suitable for those with high conviction.
Shorters actually create a more balanced market in the medium-Long term, but yes they do crank up the volatility in the short term.
