gm, I'm a believer in the idea that the best way to change peoples behavior is through there hip pocket nerve, it's been proven over and over again around the world.
Electricity, water and fuel are too cheap in my opinion. Australians per capita are the biggest users of both energy and domestic water in the world. Given our location in the world something is drastically wrong.
Whenever fuel prices go up and the politicians sympathise with those crying poor, I get annoyed. What responsible leaders should be telling us, is instead to get used to it and start modifying our usage.
One thing is certain, any increase in electricity, fuel or water prices will see an immediate decrease in wastage, a permanent decrease if we take the hint and change our habits. We shouldn't be looking to some indeterminent point in the future hoping that technological advances are going to fix the problem for us without being inconvenienced in any way.
