Hi dapper, and all HCT'ers.
Dapper - part of your post:-
'Who is the Joker that bought or sold 200 shares today for a grand total of $12.00???
Bloody cookoo................
Not so -- well maybe , please read on:-
I am in from the Jungle for a short stay.
This sale may have been done by someone who had a very small holding, from a once bigger holding or a consolidation.. etc etc. and held over many years held over time. Possibly a winding up of a Super Fund etc ... Deceased Estate ???? The latter 'winding something up' or 'Deceased Estate' there is no choice! Just SELL
Selling :-
Also what can happen, and does quite regularly, the holder wishing to tidy up his/her (Corporate holders also) contacts a Charity Share Processing Group (cant think of its name -- held in my files in The Jungle) That Group arranges all paper work and bingo sells. The holder can nominate a Charity or say' whatever Charity the Group nominates. There are many Charities - Guide Dogs - etc etc etc
Now there is/are Brokers who do this service for $0 - ziltch- nil.
And for further information:- (where ever a sale there is a buyer)
Buying:-
Could have been part of an order for a much larger quantity. If the prices on both sides Bid -Ask come together 'bingo' a buy/sell transaction is done..... The buyer may still be sitting there waiting for the order to be filled or the 200 could have been the balance of his/her order.
Also the ASX will process 1 share --- its the Share Registry that may reject the registration if the Buy order is less that $500 (not 1 cent less) ... However if you as a buyer want to buy say $200 worth of shares or just 5 shares to add to a current holding then that's OK.
In most cases the screening of small orders will/should be covered by your Broker
A Simple process. Strange how some things look quite 'crazy' when seen from one side. However when 2 sides of a story come together then 'all's clearer'
Just imagine 'dapper' if you had not made your comments known you and possibly many other s/holders/HC posters may have continued to think.. 'What a donky' Not so.
Hope this helps all.
Keep safe all HCT'ers
