HGST is a subsidiary of Western Digital. 4DS has a joint development agreement with HGST. They compliment each other with their product. But WD is the parent and was the one that purchased HGST. Either one could purchase 4DS.
IMO the 4DS-Imec meeting is being held to determine how much 4DS is worth to determine sales price and how they go about it. It will take time.
Imec already knows what has been achieved.
