Interestingly there was much less coverage of the peaceful protests than the angry protests.

I've not seen anything covering the elderly woman shoved to the ground, pepper sprayed, and left lying on the ground without any concern.

I think a read of these principles will provide some insight regarding the causes of the difference between outcomes of protests in various states.
