At what point of blood mix should we, as a society, deem someone to no longer be Aboriginal?
Or if that is too perjorative and they still claim to be Aboriginal as is their right...
...at what stage do we as a society deem them to not be entitled to benefits that normally accrue to a person of Aboriginality???
I understand (not 100% sure) that NZ has some sort of measure..ie a 1/4 or an 1/8th
The reason I ask is i was seeing someone ages ago and she said here great great grandmother was aboriginal and therefore her kids get these educational assistance benefits and she too is entitled.
Presumably her kids and theirs ad infinitum would be so entitled.
Seems nuts to me...
...but i guess there's those who'd say even asking the question is insensitive and smacks of hatred and racism
