Oh man, how we lack empathy. You could say the same of people in australia contemplating suicide. They live in the lucky country - why cant they just get on with it!
What the detention centres do is remove 'hope'. I dont know if you are capable of putting yourself in the shoes of someone who craves a better life and the door is permanently shut and they just have to accept a hopeless life. Anyone would riot. Have you not felt trapped in your job and wanted to get ahead in life? Have u just wanted food and shelter or do u aspire to the better things in life? What if someone said that was it for u? No hope of furthering yourself after all the hard work you have put to finally get close to ur dream - regardless of whether it wad ur fault or the smuggler's who tricked u?? C'mon guys, its not all black n white. All humans aspire to a better life.
I am sure none of those commenting will ever be affected by letting a refugee in. Its just made up paranoia.
You put people in cages and they may end up behaving like animals - they wont do it while there is hope. But once hope is gone what should they do? Accept a prison sentence?
