yes, the trading update was the right thing to do and despite the pain and carnage that it has wrought over the last 2 sessions, it averted a whole heap more, going by historical speculative market behaviour ahead of these announcements driving the price up. prior to last years first half report the price rallied sharply until a trading halt was called before they released the horrors of that report.. but by then it was too late for many who had rolled the dice. at least this update did not allow such a speculative bubble to form in the final lead up
