Nab looks cheap because it performs cheap.
I am a shareholder and got lulled to NAB for the preciously same reason 2 years ago. It looked like a better buy than the other 3 and I jumped in.
Yes the share price increased and dividends got delivered, but when I do a chart on NAB for the last 2 years and compare against the other three, NAB came poor last, beaten by the other three by country mile.
The GB banks even though not going bust, need constant support to stay alive. Money that could be put to more profitable tasks.
Wasting money on AXA bid, offering to much in the first place and throwing good money after bad after the bid was firstly knocked bad did not help either. The constant possibility of capital raising to pay for unpopular AXA investment hang like stone on NAB neck.
Right through this time the stubborn management refused to respond to market and shareholders concerns.
I am still hanging on hoping they might finally do something right to catch up with the others but so far no cigar. It seems that rest of the market lost faith in NAB to pull a rabbit out of the hat. They move up and down with the rest of the sector but no ticker to overtake at least one of the other three.
