Correct, it depends on the issues.
FWIW I see myself as a centrist overall but, as others have said, you can distinguish social (I'm a bit left of centre) and economic (I'm a bit right of centre) positions.
I've always been economically right but seem to have drifted to the left socially with age, funnily enough as I become more anti-social & curmudgeonly (wife's opinion).
