    Dear Hot Copperites

Very interesting that WHO attributes a higher detection rate of Tamiflu resistant swine flu in immunocompromised critically ill patients as being a particular scenario that encourages one off resistance.

Similarly, they indicate no clear evidence of reassortment (ie recombination with other influenza viruses resistant to Tamiflu) leading to resistance.

In contrast Recombinomics thinks otherwise. they suggest that recombination is/has occurred and that the Tamiflu resistant strains are present in low numbers in many cases of swine flu - and that ultimately treatment with Tamiflu (first line of tretment currently) knocks out the sensitive strains allowing the resistant strains to predominate.

Experience with the Seasonal Strains progressively becoming resistant to Tamiflu - now close to 100% resistant - would support the Recombinomics view.

    What do you think?

Thumbs up if you agree with Recombinomics.
